On Monday, Ohio State Buckeyes starting quarterback Kyle McCord entered the NCAA transfer portal, marking the end of his career with the Buckeyes.
Following news of his exit from the program, Kyle McCord issued a statement on social media.
“I’m extremely thankful for my time at Ohio State. Playing in the scarlet and gray was truly an honor,” McCord said in a statement he shared on social media. “I’m grateful for all of the life long relationships I’ve made along the way here in Columbus. My teammates, my brothers, I’m appreciative for each and every one of you. Thank you to Coach Day, Coach Dennis, Coach Fitch, and the rest of the staff and support team. Buckeye Nation, your passion is what makes playing in Columbus special.”
“With that being said, I’ve decided to enter the transfer portal to explore other opportunities,” McCord said to close out his statement.
McCord finishes his Ohio State career with a 66.5 completion percentage for 3,776 yards and 27 touchdowns with eight interceptions. Including his start against Akron last season, he actually has the best winning percentage of any Ohio State starting quarterback in program history, winning 12 games with one lone loss to the Michigan Wolverines.
With McCord transferring, this means that the Buckeyes will have a new starting quarterback for the 2024 college football season.
