This season, Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Joe Milton has big shoes to fill as he replaces former star quarterback Hendon Hooker as the team’s starter. But it sure looks like he’s got the arm talent to be a high-level quarterback in the SEC – or anywhere else.
This week, Joe Milton put his arm strength on display in a video that has since gone absolutely viral on social media. In the video, Milton can be seen casually slinging a football 85 yards downfield before celebrating with a standing back flip, showing off his elite athleticism, too.
“Tennessee QB Joe Milton has an absolute cannon,” Yahoo Sports said while sharing the video on Twitter.
Milton made both the throw and the backflip look easy, and the sports world had plenty to say about it on social media as a result.
Milton joined Tennessee before the 2022 college football season after spending his first three seasons with the Michigan Wolverines. Milton earned the starting quarterback job at Michigan before the 2021 season and averaged 290 passing yards per game during his first three starts. However, he was ultimately benched in favor of Cade McNamara, who finished the season as the team’s starter.
Following Hooker’s ACL injury last season, Milton became Tennessee’s starting quarterback for the team’s final two games leading the Volunteers to a 56-0 victory over Vanderbilt as well as a 31-14 Orange Bowl win over Clemson.
