A powerful snowstorm rolled through the state of Michigan on Wednesday, wreaking havoc across the state. Some Detroit metro areas received over 6 inches of snow and over 0.6 inches of ice in the crippling storm. The winter weather event has left thousands without power in the state, including Ann Arbor, who reported over 17,000 power outages. Amazingly though, on Wednesday night, someone pulled off a heroic act to clear out a tree from a road during the ice storm. That someone? None other than Jim Harbaugh.

The Michigan football coach provided timely help and a good deed to help clear the road out from the fallen tree. According to Ann Arbor police:

Their series of tweets read, “On 2/22/23 at approximately 8pm in the middle of the ice storm OFC Howard Cooper was at Devonshire and Londonderry to remove a large tree that was blocking the road when a van pulled up. The driver then parked and got out of the vehicle. To the surprise of Ofc Cooper, the good Samaritan was @CoachJim4UM who wanted to help clear the road. Ofc Cooper then gave Coach a pair o work gloves and the two of them went o work. After about ten minutes they were able to, inch by inch, get the entire tree moved to clear a lane for traffic to pass through.

“We thank Coach Harbaugh for being a valued member of the Ann Arbor community and helping out Ofc Cooper,” Ann Arbor police said.

The tweet and the body camera footage went viral on Thursday afternoon.

Several saw the news on Thursday and suggested it was the “Most Jim Harbaugh Thing Ever.”

Harbaugh, through the Michigan football account, made sure to note the tree was “HUGE!”

Some made sure to say that Harbs is a “good dude.”

Former NFL player TJ Lang said that Harbaugh’s choice of vehicle was very on-brand.
