USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams is projected by most to be a top pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft. That doesn’t mean that everyone is his biggest fan. Former NFL wide receiver James Jones blasted him for “attention seeking” on Tuesday.
Williams was seen crying on the sidelines after losing to Washington on Saturday, clearly upset with how much this loss meant to him.
Many fans didn’t fault him for this moment, as it shows just how much each and every game means to him. James Jones had another opinion on the matter, calling the situation “attention-seeking behavior “.
“I’m on a different side,” said Jones on an appearance on FS1 show Speak. “I am cool with crying, I’ve cried during football games. When we won the Super Bowl, I dropped down to my knees and thought about everything I’ve been through to get to this point. Tears started coming down. But for me, it’s different when you jump into the stands with your mom and your dad. That was attention-seeking behavior.

“You’re the best player in college football. You know everyone is watching you. You know the cameras never leave you. I feel like this was him looking for attention.”
As Jones stated, he has been involved in some of the biggest games in NFL history, playing a role in the Green Bay Packers championship run in 2010.
That being said, he should know as much as anyone how crushing losses are for most players. It’s hard to fault a 21-year-old kid for being passionate about a big game for his team, whether this was an “attention-seeking moment” or not…
