NIL deals have become big in college athletics with a lot of colleges promising big-time playoffs to student-athletes to come to their campus.
Apparently, this is the case for Billy Napier and the Florida Gators. Reports are the school promised quarterback prospect Jaden Rashada $13 million in NIL money, but the deal has fallen through according to reports and now he wants out of Gainesville.
Rashada first committed to Miami before flipping to Florida in mid-November but the Gator Collective which is an independent fundraising arm that disburses money to student-athletes in all sports, apparently promised the high school star the money but Rashada’s financial backing fell through, however, and the Gator Collective had terminated the binding agreement — leaving Florida coach Billy Napier trying to scramble to keep Rashada to campus.
Rashada, who is from San Francisco, returned home rather than enrolling in school and now all he and the Gators can do is wait to see what his next move will be.
As a senior, Rashada threw for over 5,000 yards and 59 touchdowns in a season. So you can understand why he was offered such a deal. The Gators are in desperate need of a quarterback with starter Anthony Richardson leaving for the NFL, Billy Napier’s team finds itself without a starter for next season.
Florida has decided to release Rashada from his commitment.
