Not only did the Texas Longhorns lose a gut-wrenching game to the Alabama Crimson Tide last week, but the team also got hit with some pretty unfortunate injury luck at football’s most important position with both Quinn Ewers and Hudson Card suffering injuries. But it looks like at least one of them will be available to play on Saturday.
According to a report from college football writer Chris Hummer of 247Sports, Card is expected to start in Saturday night’s game against the UTSA Roadrunners despite the ankle injury he suffered last week.
“Barring an injury setback, Texas is expected to start Hudson Card at quarterback against UTSA, sources tell @247Sports. Card is dealing with an ankle injury he suffered last week against Alabama.”
This news comes after Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian was less-than-willing to provide injury updates on either of his quarterbacks earlier this week.
“You guys can keep poking the bear on what I do at quarterback,” Sarkisian told reporters this week. “At the end of the day, I’m not going to give you game-planning decisions or how we practice. There’s a reason you guys don’t come to practice. If I wanted you to know who took snaps, I’d let you come to practice.”
Even if Sarkisian didn’t want to talk about it, it looks like Card will be good to go.
