The Georgia Bulldogs have won the last two national championships, so they’re not really hurting for talent.
That said, it does sting whenever a recruit decides that they don’t want to be part of your program.
That was the case on Tuesday when four-star safety Jaylen Heyward announced he was de-committing from playing for Georgia.
“The 6-foot, 185-pounder had been committed to the Bulldogs since January. The Sunshine defensive back currently holds a total of 41 offers. Last fall, he narrowed his list to these 6 schools: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, and Ohio State. However, Heyward told On3 he will be restarting his recruitment,” wrote On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

It’s unclear why Heyward decided that he doesn’t want to play for Kirby Smart’s program any longer, but he’ll certainly have no shortage of options now. Per On3.com, the recruit is the No. 13 ranked prospect in Florida. He also ranks No. 96 in the nation in the On3 Industry Ranking.
Heyward has taken official visits to UCF and Miami as well as unofficial visits to Auburn and Florida since committing to Georgia.
Don’t cry too much for the Bulldogs. They still have 25 commitments for the class of 2024, including three defensive backs. Plus, they’re Georgia. They’re pretty loaded as it is.
