Georgia fans escape floods to head to game against Alabama

Despite the hazardous conditions sweeping across the Southeastern United States as a result of Hurricane Helene, Saturday’s primetime matchup between the No. 2 ranked Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 4 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide is still scheduled to take place as planned.

While the anticipation for the game remains high given how good both teams seem to be early on in the season, thousands of Georgia fans located in the state may have trouble getting to the game thanks to the impact of Hurricane Helene.

But still, those located in Georgia, which was impacted on Friday morning when the hurricane made landfall across the state, are seemingly still trying to make the trip to Tuscaloosa for the matchup.

Alison Mastrangelo, a reporter for WSB-TV 2 in Atlanta, an ABC affiliate, highlighted this in a post on X when she interviewed a Georgia fan who used a raft to rescue his fan across his neighborhood so that they could travel to Alabama for the game.

Ultimately, after some paddling, he did end up getting over to his friends’ house and they plan on attempting the trip to Alabama later in the day, according to Mastrangelo.

Just looking at the neighborhood, it sure seems like it would be difficult to go pretty much anywhere in these conditions. But clearly, this shows just how dedicated the Georgia fanbase is when it comes to supporting their team.
