United States President Donald Trump is dealing with declining popularity numbers, as he fails to deliver on seemingly all of his campaign promises, such as keeping the country out of war with Iran and lowering the inflation rate.
One thing Trump hopes will improve his approval numbers is the work he is doing for the future of college sports, which have found themselves at an inflection point. The President is holding a meeting over the future of the collegiate athletics landscape, and attendees are expected to include former football coaches Urban Meyer and Nick Saban, as well as icons like Tiger Woods and NBA commissioner Adam Silver, per ESPN.
However, the President has snubbed one of the most prominent voices in college football, ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum.
During an appearance on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning, Finebaum said that he hopes the meeting leads to real change.
“I hope so,” Finebaum said. “If something doesn’t happen very quickly, and I mean in the next short period of time, and we’re talking about weeks, not years, then this thing could blow up.”
Finebaum is making it clear that he feels something needs to be done.
“We don’t need any more shows in college football,” Finebaum said. “We need action.”
“The key isn’t for sound bites,” he continued. “The key is to actually get something implemented.”
It’ll be interesting to see just what changes the meeting brings.
