There has been a lot of talk this week from former Alabama players about whether or not the dynasty is over. Philadelphia Eagles and former Alabama star Devonta Smith gave this answer when asked.
“I mean things happen,” Smith told The Spun. “We can’t sit here and act like other teams don’t have good athletes and good players. It’s the SEC, anyone can go out there and win any given game.”
That’s an interesting answer considering the fact former Alabama quarterback and current ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy all but said the dynasty was over even though the Tide have only lost their two games this season by a total of four points.
But it’s not the losses that have concerned some, it’s the play. Alabama has looked undisciplined at times throughout the year with a number of penalties and mistakes.
The playcalling on defense and offense also has been called into question, especially by fans who want to see offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien and defensive coordinator Pete Golding fired.
But still, Alabama is still Alabama and if things break their way this weekend, they still have a chance to represent the SEC West in Atlanta but that is a huge “if.” However, as we have seen in the past with the Crimson Tide, it’s not impossible.
