The way the Alabama Crimson Tide has played of late, it’s no wonder that many college football fans and experts have them on upset alert. The last few weeks for the Tide have been rocky. Two weeks ago, they lost to Texas, and last week they struggled to a 17-3 victory over South Florida in which both starting quarterbacks struggled along with the offensive line.
The only bright spot in that game was the play of the Tide’s defense, but against a tougher opponent like the Ole Miss Rebels, how will the Tide respond?
Most like ESPN’s college football analyst Desmond Howard thinks the Tide may be in trouble Saturday against the Rebels. Howard and Heather Dinich appeared on ‘Get Up’ and weren’t optimistic.
“It’s a carousel of quarterbacks for Nick Saban,” said Howard. “We’ve heard him talk about quarterbacks and never heard him so depressed about a quarterback situation in my life.”
“I think this game is huge for them, and I think they should be on upset alert at home,” Howard said.
Dinich agreed but added that Tide’s issues go beyond the quarterback position.
“I’m going with Ole Miss in this game,” Dinich said. “They’ve got bigger problems at Alabama than their quarterback.”
“Their offensive line has allowed more sacks than any other team in the Power Five. And Jaxson Dart is throwing for big-time plays over 20 yards,” explained Dinich. “Guess what Alabama’s defense did against Texas? They allowed six plays of over 20 yards.”
The Tide’s defense stepped up last week. Will the offense do the same this week?
