The Ohio State Buckeyes have a 2-0 record, but it’s safe to say that they have not looked quite as dominant as many college football fans would have expected so far this season, especially against two noticeably inferior opponents. And as it turns out, it’s not just the fans who are disappointed with the lackluster showings.
Following Ohio State’s 35-7 win over FCS opponent Youngstown State this weekend, Ohio State Buckeyes star cornerback Denzel Burke made it clear that it was not the dominant performance that he was expecting from his team, saying “we’re supposed to mug these dudes.”
“It was kind of really a disappointing win. We’ve got a lot of things to clean up. Like I said earlier, we’re supposed to mug these dudes, and I feel like we didn’t do that today. But a lot of stuff to clean up,” Burke said according to Patrick Murphy of 247 Sports.
Ohio State will face likely its best team yet this weekend when the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers come to Columbus, then the Buckeyes have a high-profile matchup against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on the road. It’s safe to say the Buckeyes will need to be better in both of those games and going forward.
We’ll have to see whether or not the Buckeyes can improve.
