Over the past few months, new Colorado Buffaloes Deion Sanders has taken a lot of heat for the way that he has chosen to build his roster, pushing out a record number of players from the team and replacing them through the transfer portal. And this week, he clapped back at the most recent head coach to criticize his approach.
During an interview at Big 12 Media Days this week, Oklahoma Sooners head coach Brent Venables called out Deion Sanders for his approach to the transfer portal, claiming Sanders “gave guys a bunch of pink slips” when he arrived at Colorado. And Sanders took to Twitter to give his former response.
“Please read this slowly. I’ve Never responded to any of these Great coaches that choose to target me or our program here @CUBuffsFootball. I’m Great at walking & talking the talk & if it were truly me I would’ve referenced a LAMBORGHINI. That’s #CoachPrime,” Sanders said in the tweet.
It’s a pretty clear message from Sanders, and the college football world had plenty to say about it on social media as a result.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Sanders’ roster-building strategy plays out for him both this season and beyond.
