The Ohio State Buckeyes picked up a commitment from former Ole Miss Rebels cornerback Davison Igninosun out of the transfer portal. And just as head coach Ryan Day prefers, that signing filled a big need for the Buckeyes and turned out to be one of the best transfer portal additions in the entire country.

Davison Igbinosun ranks as the No. 2 transfer portal addition in all of college football for the month of February, according to On3, and is the biggest portal addition of any team expected to compete for a national title in 2023.

“Davison Igbinosun (6-2, 185) was an On3 Consensus four-star recruit and a national top-175 prospect in the 2022 signing class,” Mike Huguenin wrote for On3. “He started 10 games for the Rebels, finishing with 37 tackles and five pass breakups. His loss is a big one, for the 2023 season and beyond. Igbinosun is one of three huge additions at corner for the Buckeyes, joining On3 Consensus four-star freshmen Jermaine Matthews and Calvin Simpson-Hunt; both are national top-60 prospects. All three should be in the hunt for a starting job, along with holdovers Denzel Burke and Jordan Hancock. Igbinosun has a legit shot at starting; at the least, he will be an important rotation piece.”

Igbinosun emerged as a starter for Ole Miss last season as just a true freshman – a rarity at the cornerback position – and he thrived in the position, earning Freshman All-American honors after the season. He’ll now help the Buckeyes at a position that was a weak spot for the team in 2022.
