Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney speaks in the Smart Family Media Center at the Smart Family Media Center at the Poe Indoor Practice Facility in Clemson, S.C. Tuesday, Oct 24, 2023.

It wasn’t that long ago when head coach Dabo Swinney had the Clemson Tigers looking like the next dynasty in college football. The Tigers embarrassed the Ohio State Buckeyes in the college football playoff and even beat the Alabama Crimson Tide in the national championship.

However, Clemson and Swinney have fallen on hard times as of late. This season, the Tigers are off to a 1-2 start after losses to the LSU Tigers and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Fans are upset about the fall from grace, with many calling for the head coach’s job.

For his part, Swinney is making it known that he’s happy to leave Clemson if that’s what the route his higher-ups decide to take.

“I mean, if Clemson is tired of winning. They can send me on my way, but I’m gonna go somewhere else and coach. I ain’t going to the beach,” Swinney said.

Fans reacted to the bold statement on social media.

“We all know, Dabo. Nobody loves to talk about the past more than you. And you do it every single time someone criticizes you,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“At some point, Clemson is either going to get tired of only winning 10 games and the ACC or they are going to want to raise their standards. One or the other,” somoene else added.

“In other words, Clemson is stuck with Dabo. He won championships there. So he’s gonna keep doing things like he’s doing them now for the next 10 yrs, & there’s nothing Clemson fans can do about it,” another fan added

It’ll be interesting to see if the Tigers actually elect to move on from Swinney.
