CFB world reacts to insane Hail Mary finish

You were largely mistaken if you thought that Stanford’s 29-point come-from-behind win over Colorado was the only theatrics we would see this weekend. Sure, this weekend’s slate of games was rather forgettable, except Oregon-Washington, but Colorado State-Boise State made sure that wasn’t the case.

The Broncos, who entered the games as favorites, went into halftime with a 17-point lead. While Colorado State did answer with a couple of scores of its own, Boise State seemingly answered right back with three straight scoring drives, taking a 30-10 lead.

But six minutes left was all the Rams would need to turn the tables. They cut the lead to 13 points and recovered an onside kick with just under four to play. But to overcome a 20-point deficit with six minutes to play, you usually need some sort of a miracle. Luck appeared to be on Colorado State’s side with the recovery of the onside kick, but it still needed a miracle. That’s where Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi and Dallin Holker come into play. With the clock reading double zeroes, the Rams’ tight end dove for the initial deflection, and came up with a diving catch, which you can see below:

 

Colorado State was given an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, moving the game-winning extra-point attempt back 15 yards, but kicker Jordan Noyes drilled it anyway. The Rams erased a 20-point deficit to win in walk-off fashion, 31-30, and did so on Homecoming. What a finish. What a game.

Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, this is the first time that Colorado State has EVER beaten Boise State. They are now 1-12 all-time. What a time for your first-ever win over a rival.
