Colorado wound up on the wrong side of a beatdown last weekend. From the sounds of it, it’s unclear if the troubles for Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes aren’t going to continue. Star safety Shilo Sanders, one of Deion’s kids, is listed as ‘doubtful’ for Saturday’s game against No. 8 USC.
ESPN’s college football insider Pete Thamel reported the news on Saturday morning. “Colorado star safety Shilo Sanders is doubtful against No. 8 USC, leaving an already undermanned secondary vulnerable against country’s No. 3 passing offense,” Thamel posted. He added that Colorado’s Rodrick Ward will likely start in place of Sanders.
It’s been a brutal stretch for Colorado lately. The Oregon Ducks steamrolled them last week 42-6 in a game that never felt in reach. CU had a lot of hype around them, but the Ducks had no interest in dealing with any of it. The Buffaloes are now 3-1, two more wins than all of last year, but this next stretch will be hard to handle.
And now, the Buffaloes have to go against reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams and the high-octane Trojans. They were already going to have their hands full, but now the task is that much more unenviable. It could be a long morning in Boulder if things go the Trojans’ way.
The college football world was buzzing over the brutal Colorado news.
