Week 10 was a wild one in college football, with a number of big upsets and huge shifts at the top of the sport’s landscape.
The latest College Football Playoff rankings came out Tuesday night, and two notable teams missing from the top of the rankings marked a first in the history of the CFP.
Georgia came in at No. 1 after their dominant victory over Tennessee. Ohio State remained at No. 2 after their victory over Northwestern. Michigan jumped from No. 5 to No. 3 thanks to their win over Rutgers. TCU made the biggest jump, from No. 7 to No. 4 after beating Texas Tech last week.
Many took to social media to voice their opinions on the updated rankings after last week’s wild slate of games.
The two teams that fell out of the top four were Tennessee and Clemson after their losses last week, which created a first in the history of the CFP rankings system.
This week marks the first time that neither Alabama nor Clemson has been ranked inside the top six of the CFP rankings.
It generally seems like most agree that the top four are ranked correctly by the CFP committee.
The top four teams are the only remaining undefeated teams, which should hold a ton of merit compared to strength of schedule, which was favored in the past BCS ranking system.
This also makes the highly anticipated matchup between Ohio State and Michigan in Week 13 extremely intriguing and will ensure that there can only be three undefeated teams in college football if Georgia and TCU win out.
