The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will now be down at least one quarterback going into the off-season. Chanticleers QB Grayson McCall plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to multiple reports.

McCall played in just seven games under center for the Chanticleers this season, as he dealt with an injury. In seven games, he threw for 1,919 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. He completed 67.4 percent of his passes, going 151 for 224.
McCall, a three-time Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, amassed over 10,000 passing yards with a total of 106 touchdowns against 16 interceptions during his time in Conway, South Carolina. His career completion percentage at Coastal Carolina was 69.9 percent.
After a 2022 season, in which he threw for over 2,700 yards with 24 touchdowns and two interceptions, McCall entered the transfer portal following Jamey Chadwell’s departure for Liberty. He ultimately elected to return to the Myrtle Beach school for one final season under new coach Tim Beck.
With a year of eligibility left, the now-former Coastal Carolina quarterback hopes to find new ground on which to prove himself. His numbers leave a bit to be desired, but that might spur him to prove that he has more to offer. Teams will always need quarterbacks, so suitors shouldn’t be hard for him to find.
For Coastal Carolina, on the flip side, it will now be about replacing his production, potentially in-house or otherwise.
