Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has certainly taken a unique approach to leading his team and has taken plenty of criticism as a result. But it sounds like he at least has the support of his assistant caoches.

This week, Colorado defensive coordinator Charles Kelly filled in for Deion Sanders at Pac-12 media days, and he made it clear that he supports Sanders’ leadership.

“That’s one thing, one of the things that I respect most about him is he tells the truth,” Kelly said according to On3. “He made it very clear what his vision for our program was and as a leader what you do is you make sure everybody in the organization understands your vision. We all understand that vision.”

He also made it clear that the coaching staff is feeling some urgency to be successful – though it’s not motivated by fear.

“It’s not necessarily fear for our jobs, it’s just this is our vision for where we want to go,” Kelly said. “We want to do it now. And we’ve taken criticism, that’s fine. People have their opinion to say what they want to. But we did within what the rules allowed for us to be able to create the best roster possible for the University of Colorado. And we don’t apologize for that.”

We’ll have to see how the Buffaloes perform this season.
