The college football world was treated to quite a competitive day of action on Saturday as this weekend’s slate features five different games between top-25 teams. But it was a MAC conference matchup between the Central Michigan Chippewas and the Akron Zips that provided one of the best highlights from Saturday’s college football games.
Midway through the second quarter, Central Michigan appeared to be set to attempt a field goal on a 4th-and-3 from the eight-yard line. But in what turned out to be an amazing decision, the team decided instead to attempt quite an audacious fake.
After the ball was snapped, instead of placing the ball down for the placekicker to kick, the holder instead threw the ball over his shoulder to Central Michigan Josh Rolston who caught the pitch and took off running downfield. Rolston made the line-to-gain easily, and then some. The Chippewa kicker scampered for seven yards, nearly scoring a touchdown before he was tackled at the goal line.
It was quite a creative call and an even more athletic play for the kicker, and the college football world had plenty to say about it on Saturday afternoon.

The Chippewas scored a touchdown on the drive and the fake field goal ended up being an important play in the game as it was a close contest with Central Michigan ultimately winning 28-21.
