There have been some rather salacious rumors swirling around the LSU Tigers program over things that may or may not have happened after his team’s Citrus Bowl victory over Purdue. After a few days of silence, head coach Brian Kelly has finally reacted to those rumors and whether or not anyone has been punished.
During his postgame press conference, Kelly said that none of his assistant coaches or support staffers have done anything to warrant suspension or dismissal.
“Look, I hold our players to high standards, and they know that,” said Kelly. “We have a high standard. I have been in it for three decades. We have high standards for everybody that is in our program, and that includes coaches and support staff and anybody that is affiliated with this program.
“They are held to that highest of standard as well. There are no coaches or support staff that are currently with me that have done anything that would require me to feel as they haven’t met the highest of standards that are required within our program.”
The salacious rumors that dogged the program over the last few days include a rumored party where staffers and players were involved in a sordid encounter. However, it sounds like it was just that…rumors.
Kelly’s first season as the head coach at LSU was a pretty solid affair. The Tiger finished 10-4, won the Citrus Bowl and made the SEC Championship Game.
