The annual Army-Navy game each season is a tradition unlike any other in college football. This season’s game will be the 124th matchup between the two stories programs. And it is apparently generating some huge buzz amongst fans looking to attend the game.
This year’s game will take place at Gillette Stadium, the home of the New England Patriots. There have been some huge events hosted at Gilette Stadium over the years. This includes 12 AFC Championship games and countless concerts featuring some big-name artists.
However, according to Patriots president Jonathan Kraft, this year’s Army-Navy game is generating more ticket demand than any event that has ever been hosted at Gillette Stadium.
“I can tell you that the ticket demand for this game is greater than any AFC Championship Game that we’ve hosted here, greater than Taylor Swift, greater than anything else we’ve ever seen,” said Kraft during the Army-Navy media day on Wednesday transcribed by Sean McGuire of NESN. “So, this next week is just gonna be so exciting.”
Any event generating more attention than a Taylor Swift concert or an AFC Championship is obviously pretty incredible. And it shows just how important the tradition of the Army-Navy game is each and every year.
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey revealed more than 50,000 tickets had been purchased by out-of-state fans as of Wednesday, which shows just how big this game truly is nationwide.
Healey spoke about the importance of this game for the state of Massachusetts as a whole during the media day on Wednesday.
“Certainly, the Army-Navy Game is a huge win for our state,” said Healey. “So we’re really, really excited about that. We also think it’s really exciting that it is happening here in New England.”
