The University of Michigan is looking for some normalcy under new head coach Kyle Whittingham, after the last two head coaches both left the program controversially. Jim Harbaugh left on the heels of a massive scandal involving illegally stealing opponents’ play calls, and his successor, Sherrone Moore, also left under dubious circumstances.
“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” Michigan announced in December. “Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.”
Now, the woman with whom Moore allegedly had an inappropriate relationship has lost her job at the university, according to TMZ.
“A spokesman for the university athletic department tells us that Paige Shiver’s contract expired and was not renewed,” the outlet reported.
According to a report from Darko State news, LaTroy Lewis has been accused of rape in Michigan while he was a member of Moore’s staff. The report alleges that Lewis also harassed the accuser, allegedly sending texts such as “I’m going to f**k you up,” and “I’d f*****g kill you! Don’t play with me.”
Moore was allegedly made aware of these allegations and would have been required to report sexual assault under both Title IX and the university’s policies. Instead, it is alleged that he gave Lewis a raise and sexually harassed the accuser himself.
Moore has an evidentiary hearing scheduled for Friday in Michigan, in which a judge is set to learn more about the investigation that led to the charges being filed against Moore.
