The Michigan State Spartans fell short of an Elite Eight appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. However, it looks like their chances of making a deep run next year have improved.
Tyson Walker played a huge role in Michigan State’s success this past season. He led the team with 14.8 points per game while shooting 41.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Walker hadn’t revealed his choice of whether he’d enter the 2023 NBA Draft or spend his final year of eligibility at Michigan State. He answered that question with a social media post on Monday.
The senior guard revealed that he will return to Michigan State in 2023 and forgo the upcoming NBA Draft.
The video showed a number of impressive highlights during his time with the Spartans. It concluded with the words “One more year”.
Many around the college basketball world took notice of this announcement. The consensus appears to be that the Spartans could be a dangerous team next season with Walker officially returning.
While the program is set to have veteran leader Joey Hauser leave after graduating this year, they will be bringing in an extremely talented recruiting class this offseason. Of the four players that the Spartans had committed in the 2023 recruiting class, three of them are ranked inside ESPN’s top 50 recruits.
With this announcement from Walker and the excellent coaching from legendary coach Tom Izzo, Michigan State should certainly be among the top teams in college basketball next season.
