On Tuesday, Lafayette University announced that it had placed men’s basketball coach Mike Jordan on paid leave while it investigated a complaint about “his work as head coach.”
The school made an official announcement with a statement.
“Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Jordan will be on a paid leave of absence while Lafayette investigates a complaint it has received about his work as head coach,” read the school statement. “While the investigation is conducted, Associate Head Coach Mike McGarvey will serve as acting head coach. Players and coaches have been informed of the College’s decisions. This is a personnel matter, and as such, the College has no further comment at this time.”
The Leopards are currently 9-20 on the season and 7-9 in Patriot League play. There are two games remaining in their regular season before the conference tournament. While it’s extremely unlikely, if they win out of that tournament they would make the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
However, all of that is secondary to whatever prompted this investigation.

This is Jordan’s first season as head coach at the school. He previously spent eight seasons as an assistant with Colgate before leaving to be an assistant at Drexel for one season and returning for one more year at Colgate.
