An impact player from a mid-major program entered the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday.

St. Francis (PA) forward Josh Cohen has hit the portal. Cohen leaves St. Francis (PA) after a stupendous 2022-23 season. He averaged 21.8 points and 8.3 rebounds on a mark of 58.5 percent from the floor.

His 21.8 points ranked ninth in the entire nation in points per game. He was just 0.1 points behind Purdue Boilermakers star Zach Edey while not far off on shots per game, just for added context.

Josh Borzello of ESPN reported on the portal activity. “St. Francis PA forward Josh Cohen has entered the transfer portal, source told ESPN. Averaged 21.8 points and 8.3 rebounds,” he tweeted.

This is a huge development as one of the nation’s top scorers is now essentially a free agent. There should be a lot of suitors for Cohen as he’s not only a prolific scorer, he’s a top-class rebounder and he’s experienced. Cohen has played three seasons at the collegiate level.

He earned the Northeast Conference Most Improved Player of the Year Award in the 2021-22 season. Last season, he averaged 12.9 points per game, a massive jump from 5.7 the year before.

This season, he pulled in more accolades. Cohen earned the NEC’s Player of the Year Award and was named an All-NEC First Team selection.

Next season, he could well earn honors in a high-major conference. This will be one to watch.
