As the Arkansas Razorbacks make their run through the NCAA Tournament, they are getting some tips and advice from a rather unlikely source: golf star John Daly.
On Saturday, the Arkansas Razorbacks clinched a spot in the Sweet 16, and head coach Eric Musselman said after the game that he thinks John Daly – a prominent Arkansas alum and massive Razorbacks basketball fan – will be pleased with the team’s free-throw shooting performance, revealing that Daly even tried to give the team some odd drills to improve their free-throw shooting.
“He tried calling me, got a couple texts already,” Musselman said according to On3. “Before we hit the plane I’ll try to call John. You know, he’s been texting me even drills. Like he wanted our guys to get a putter out and hit a ball into a cup. We haven’t tried it yet, luckily we’ve been making foul shots. But I know the state of Arkansas is on fire right now and I know John Daly’s pretty pumped up too.”
Arkansas will likely need to keep up the great free throw shooting if they’re going to continue their run through the NCAA Tournament, but it safe to say John Daly is enjoying the win right now.
