Twin basketball stars, Haley and Hanna Cavinder have made a massive decision on their future.
After helping lead the Miami Hurricanes women’s basketball team to the first Elite Eight in program history, two of the sport’s most prominent names have elected to step away from the game of basketball. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday morning, the twins announced that they would be using their fifth year of eligibility and would start a new chapter — presumably not basketball related — in their lives.
“We would like to thank our teammates and coaches for bringing us in as family and being part of a historic season,” the twins said in a statement. “With that being said, Hanna and I have decided to not take our fifth year and start a new chapter in our lives. The U will always be home and we are forever proud to be Hurricanes.”
According to On3Sports, both Haley and Hanna have multiple business ventures ahead of them, some of which may have been restricted due to NIL policies, and will continue to be social media influencers. The twins currently have 4.5 million followers and counting on social media.
In their lone season at Miami, the Cavinder twins took the college sports world by storm. Haley averaged 12.2 points per game, starting in all 35 games for the Hurricanes, while Hanna averaged 3.8 points coming off the bench.
