Cooper Flagg, the top prospect in the 2024 class, has decided where he will spend his college career.
Appearing on the cover of the latest edition of SLAM Magazine, Flagg announced his commitment to Duke.
A 6-foot-8, 195-pound power forward, Flagg ranks as the No. 1 overall prospect in the country, according to 247Sports. He projects as a future top overall pick and will be eligible to enter the 2025 NBA Draft.
A native of Newport, Maine, the 16-year-old Flagg transferred to the Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida, following his freshman season. The 2022 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year committed to Duke over offers from Connecticut, Iowa, Kansas and Kansas State.
The commitment of Flagg is obviously a massive one for Blue Devils head coach Jon Scheyer, who is entering his second season after succeeding the legendary Mike Krzyzewski. Duke’s 2024 recruiting class currently ranks first in country, with Flagg joining a class that also includes five-star forward Isaiah Evans, five-star forward Kon Knueppel and four-star forward Darren Harris. Additionally, the Blue Devils remain in the mix for five-star guard Dylan Harper.
As for this season, Duke enters the 2023-24 campaign ranked second in the preseason Associated Press Top 25.
Following the news of Flagg’s commitment, many in the college basketball world took to social media to weigh in.
