Caitlin Clark play

Iowa Hawkeyes superstar Caitlin Clark has emerged as one of the most prolific scorers in the history of women’s college basketball, but she managed to clinch a spot in the national championship game with a brilliant play that had nothing to do with scoring.

During the closing seconds of Friday night’s showdown against the UConn Huskies, Caitlin Clark was set to inbound the ball with the Hawkeyes up two points and 1.1 seconds left on the clock. But instead of inbounding the ball to one of her teammates on the floor, she made a brilliant play to essentially clinch the game for Iowa.

UConn Huskies star Paige Buecker had her back turned to Clark as she was set to inbound the ball, so Clark decided to throw the ball right off of her backside – wasting precious time off the clock.

When the ball landed out of bounds after Clark bounced it off of Bueckers’ backside, there were just 0.1 seconds remaining on the clock – far too little time for UConn to be able to mount a comeback.

Obviously, it was a brilliant play from Clark, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media.

There’s a good chance the Hawkeyes would have won the game even without Clark pulling off that move, but it was certainly a cool way for her to essentially clinch the game for her team.
