After being taken to the hospital over the weekend for an undisclosed illness, former Indiana and Texas Tech basketball coach Bobby Knight was released from the hospital and reportedly resting comfortably at home.
His son, Pat Knight, released a statement about his father.
“As many have heard, my dad was hospitalized over the weekend with an illness and has since been released from the hospital,” he said in a statement. “We ask for your privacy as he is cared for and resting at home in good hands.”
“Coach always taught us, and those that played for him, the importance of fighting through adversity and he and our family thank you for the tremendous amount of support you have shown and given during this time,” he continued. “We appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers.”
Knight retired from coaching in 2008 and pretty much has remained out of the spotlight since then. The controversial figure coached at Indiana for many years before moving on to Texas Tech and eventually turning the program over to his son Pat.
When news hit about Knight being in the hospital, the basketball community rallied around him, including his former school Indiana who asked for prayers for Knight.
Although his relationship with Indiana ended on a sour note, he is still an ironic figure in the Hoosier State.
