Desmond Cambridge Jr. hit a shot that Arizona State fans will never forget Saturday.
The senior guard made a 60-foot shot at the buzzer to knock off No. 7 Arizona, 89-88. The Wildcats appeared to have the game under control, holding a 2-point lead with 2.9 seconds remaining. But Cambridge Jr. took the in-bounds pass, moved a few feet up court and launched his shot.
CBS play-by-play announcer Rich Walz’ reaction is priceless.
“Desmond Cambridge … ohhhhhhh! He got it! He won it! Arizona State has won it! The Sun Devils have taken down No. 7!”
And just like that, Arizona State knocked off their bitter rival. The shot also provided a boost to Arizona State’s NCAA Tournament hopes. The Sun Devils are now 20-9, and that quality win over a top-10 team helps their case as well.
Cambridge Jr. finished with 19 points and six rebounds to key the Sun Devils.
College basketball fans were just as stunned as Walz by the crazy game-winning shot.
