Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers are headed to the Elite Eight. There, they may face Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in a repeat of last year’s Final Four matchup between the two, if the Hawkeyes take down the Colorado Buffalos.
The Tigers defeated the UCLA Bruins 78-69, but of course, that wasn’t the major story coming out of this game. It was Reese’s actions afterward that got fans talking.
After she had fouled out of the game with just a few seconds to go and LSU up, Reese turned her attention to the Bruins bench who clapped when she finally fouled out.
Reese could reportedly be heard saying as she headed to the bench “That’s soft *** sh*t. F*ck you talkin’ bout?! That’s some soft *** sh*t.” And you can also see her tell one of the UCLA assistants as they were shaking hands afterward, to “watch your mouth.”
UCLA head coach Cori Close was furious with the exchange and thought Reese should have been reprimanded by officials and may be given a technical. Nothing happened.
When Reese was asked did she say anything to Close during the handshake, she said “No, it was another coach who was talking crazy.”
Reese has become well known for her trashing-talking antics on the court. While a lot of fans love it, not everyone is a fan. And some people wonder if she may have crossed the line Saturday in disrespecting the Bruins and their coaching staff.
