The New York Yankees lost Sunday’s matchup vs. the Baltimore Orioles thanks to an epic blunder.
Yankees outfielder Alex Verdugo was a bit too ambitious in trying to field an oncoming line drive. Cedric Mullins blasted a ball would sail over Verdugo, leading to the Orioles racing around the bases to win the game.
Matt Vasgersian delivered an epic call of the moment as it happened.
The win sent the Orioles up to first place in the American League East and a record of 58-38. The loss drove the Yankees down to second, and a 58-40 record, standing one game behind the O’s.
Not surprisingly, while it’s bad enough when the Yankees lose for some, it’s that much more satisfying for others. The MLB world couldn’t stop laughing or reacting to the epic gaffe that New York pulled off.
