Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was involved in the final sequence Saturday night in the deciding Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The Thunder will go home after falling to the Dallas Mavericks in six games, ending a brilliant season in OKC that went beyond anyone’s imagination.
But Gilgeous-Alexander was involved in one of the final sequences of the game. Mavericks forward P.J. Washington was fouled late beyond the 3-point arc, awarding him three shots. Gilgeous-Alexander was the one to commit the foul, which led to two made buckets, and the Mavericks victory.
Following the game, Gilgeous-Alexander made no bones about it.
“I shouldn’t have fouled him,” Gilgeous-Alexander admitted. “We talk about it all year. The little things that go into winning games and being disciplined… it sucks. Obviously, if I had the moment back, I wouldn’t have fouled him. Let him make or miss the shot.”
After a reporter asked him if he’s seen the replay, Gilgeous-Alexander said he has not and won’t.
“Nah, I can’t look at it,” he said. “They looked at it and still didn’t overturn it.” He then reiterated he does not want to go look at it and knows that he fouled him.
Frankly, nobody could blame him if he never looked at the foul again.
