The Colorado Buffaloes’ hype train skidded over the weekend. The Buffaloes blew a 29-0 lead to the lowly Stanford Cardinal on Friday night. The 1-win Cardinal raced back and won 46-43 in a dramatic overtime game.
That loss for Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders was beyond brutal. They’ve felt the heat since then, and a good chunk of that came from ESPN’s Paul Finebaum on Sunday. Finebaum joined ‘The Matt Barrie Show’ on ESPN College Football’s YouTube page and went so far as to deem Sanders the “biggest loser” of the week.
“I don’t wanna bring the wrath of some of your highest-paid talent on ESPN on me, but the biggest loser of the weekend was Deion Sanders,” Finebaum said. Barrie agreed with Finebaum, replying, “No question!” to what Finebaum said.
“That was inexcusable. His party’s over. He took a hit, and I’m not really that fascinated by Colorado after that,” he said.
The Buffaloes have definitely seen a lot of their hype derail over the past few weeks. Oregon slugged them 42-6 at Autzen Stadium several weeks ago, and then the following week, they lost to Caleb Williams and the USC Trojans. Colorado then won a tight battle with Arizona State in Tempe, but they blew it on Friday night to the Cardinal, who entered the game with one win on their record. They also had a loss to FCS Sacramento State on their ledger too.
“I’m moving on from Coach Prime’s late-night show,” Finebaum said.
