Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup might have a new home soon. According to a report that emerged on Saturday, the Carolina Panthers will reportedly host Gallup next week. The former Cowboys star will reportedly visit a team in desperate need of talented wide receivers.
The Panthers, who still have plenty of pieces to add to one of the league’s least-talented rosters, will host Gallup in an attempt to get him to join up. Second-year quarterback Bryce Young would certainly appreciate Gallup’s presence in the lineup if the team can secure the deal.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport posted the news on Saturday afternoon on X, the website formerly known as Twitter.
“As the Panthers continue to look to add weapons, source says they are bringing in former Cowboys WR Michael Gallup in for a visit next week,” Rapoport said.
Gallup played in 86 games with the Cowboys in six seasons. He recorded 266 receptions, 3,744 yards, and 21 touchdowns. Gallup’s best season came in 2019, when he hauled in 66 receptions, 1,107 yards, and six receiving touchdowns. After playing only nine games in 2021, he rebounded to play 14 and then 17 in 2022 and 2023.
After a few successful seasons with the Cowboys, Gallup may spread his wings and try a new challenge. It will be intriguing to see how it works out, as the Panthers sure could use anyone to help stretch the field.
