Mookie Betts just furthered his case as one of the best leadoff hitters in Major League Baseball history.
The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar has led a brilliant MLB career thus far. It got even better on Sunday, a Betts belted his 52nd career leadoff home run. The former Most Valuable Player has done a lot of great things, and this is one of the most impressive.
Betts’ home run gave the Dodgers the lead against the Colorado Rockies in this early June series.
Betts has been an impressive leadoff home run hitter. While he isn’t quite the best yet, he’s put himself in elite company with the home run.
Mookie’s 52nd career leadoff home run gives him the fifth most in MLB history, according to Sarah Langs. Langs noted that Betts is now tagged alongside Craig Biggio, Alfonso Soriano, George Springer, and the legendary Rickey Henderson.
Betts will no doubt continue to make history and set new highs as his illustrious career continues. He figures to be one of, if not the favorite to win National League MVP this season with his efforts head and shoulders above the competition.
