On Christmas Eve, the New York Jets decided to retain head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas. According to the man himself, New York’s decision was solely made by owner Woody Johnson. The feeling that they would stick around hung around all year.
Saleh commented on the decision that the Jets’ owner made on Sunday on Christmas morning.
Via ESPN’s Rich Cimini, “Woody Johnson has ‘never wavered in his support for us and the things we’re trying to get done, Saleh says.”

This lines up with the thought that there was no need to restart in the Meadowlands. With Aaron Rodgers sidelined all season, the Jets must feel that everything, as it stands, was right for the taking this year had that not occurred. So, they’ll retool and reboot next year with the same brain trust.
Granted, Sunday’s game didn’t reflect well on the staff or the team. The Jets gagged away a lead to the Washington Commanders. They still found a way to win 30-28, but it was far from the most positive experience. But with that said, it appears that there’ll be no stopping the Jets from running it back in 2024.
It’s yet to be seen what will happen when they do that, but all eyes will be on Gang Green once again next season.
