The Los Angeles Dodgers announced they’ve signed a pivotal player to a contract extension. Multi-time National League All-Star Max Muncy and the Dodgers agreed to terms on a two-year deal that will keep the coveted power hitter in LA.

LA announced the signing on X, the popular website formerly known as Twitter, on Thursday afternoon.

They said, “The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to terms with infielder Max Muncy on a two-year contract through the 2025 season for $24 million. The deal includes a $10 million club option for 2026.”

Muncy has been on the Dodgers since 2018. After two dismal years with Oakland, Muncy broke out with a fanatically good season in 2018. On the way to the Dodgers’ World Series appearance that season, he hit 35 home runs while OPS-ing .973. He’s hit 30 home runs or more in four of his six career seasons. The only times he didn’t were in the shortened 2020 season (12) and in 2022 when he hit 21 home runs.

Power hitters like that don’t grow on trees. Five seasons of 20+ HR is valuable, and the Dodgers appear to know that. They ponied up to keep the fan favorite Muncy around. He’s also been known as someone who always shows out against rival San Francisco, which will always keep him in the good graces of Dodger fans.

The MLB world had plenty to say over the news on the Dodgers and Max Muncy.
