The Kansas City Chiefs couldn’t piece it together on Christmas Day. After another dismal offensive showing, the Chiefs fell to the rival Las Vegas Raiders 20-14.

Part of the blame for the loss once again lands on the offense. They simply couldn’t capitalize on a slow day offensively for their opponent. Opposing quarterback Aidan O’Connell finished with only 21 pass attempts while the team had 157 yards on the ground. Zamir White helped put the game away and finished with 145 of those 157 yards.

But the offense for the Chiefs is the story again. Mahomes was a shaky 27-for-44 with 235 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Rashee Rice was the team’s leading receiver, but he only finished with six catches for 57 yards. Travis Kelce had just five catches for 44 yards with his girlfriend Taylor Swift in attendance.

Not surprisingly, their performance was met with sharp criticism online. Most couldn’t wait to hammer the point home that the Chiefs looked lost.

“The Chiefs have shattered the Patrick Mahomes. This offense is an embarrassment to the sport,” Matt Vederame said. “KC has serious soul-searching to do after it quickly gets bounced from the playoffs.”

“I don’t think I’d ever see an offense with Patrick Mahomes look like this for nearly a full season,” ESPN’s Field Yates said. Yates closed his post by calling the situation “befuddling.”

Others added their opinions on the Chiefs’ dreary day.

The Chiefs have to quickly right the ship with the playoffs approaching. Otherwise, it could be a very brief January.
