After nearly six months since suffering a “cardiac event,” Paul “Triple H” Levesque shed some light on what he went through and announced his retirement from in-ring competition.
Triple H went on Stephen A’s World to reveal to Stephen A. Smith that his near death experience began with viral pneumonia. More tests revealed fluid being formed around his heart, requiring surgery. That resulted in Triple H receiving a defibrillator in his chest and retired as “it’s not a good idea for me to get zapped on live TV.”
Whether it was in the ring or backstage, Triple H influenced the pro wrestling industry in more ways than one. He might’ve been a 14-time WWE/World Champion and a WWE Hall of Famer with D-Generation X, but him operating NXT and coaching younger wrestlers in recent years has been the thing that many inside the industry appreciate him for.
That was the basis of so many posts and tributes from WWE Superstars honoring “The Game.” They weren’t necessarily the people he fought and competed against in the ring but the people he helped become better and compete against others in the ring.
