The WWE is apologizing for a horrible Holocaust mistake.
The wrestling organization accidentally featured footage of the notorious Auschwitz death camp in a prematch promotional video in the lead-in to the Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio fight at Wrestlemania.
The footage can be seen below. In the video, Dominik says he “served hard time” in prison, with footage from the infamous Holocaust landmark shown.
“We had no knowledge of what was depicted. As soon as we learned, it was removed immediately,” WWE told The Washington Post.
The Auschwitz Memorial blasted the wrestling outfit for the move.
Auschwitz was the largest of Nazi Germany’s concentration camps. An estimated 1.1 million Jews and other marginalized communities perished at the camp.
The WWE replaced the death camp footage with generic prison footage on YouTube and for subsequent replays of Wrestlemania.
The WWE recently announced its acquisition by the Ultimate Fighting Championship parent Endeavor.
