Donald Trump wasn’t the only one who heard from the Feds this week, so did his friend, WWE owner Vince McMahon.
According to CNBC, Federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant on the WWE boos last month and served him with a federal grand jury subpoena, the company said Wednesday.
The actions represent an escalation of an ongoing investigation into allegations that McMahon paid millions of dollars over the years to women after being accused of sexual misconduct.
The WWE also announced Wednesday that McMahon was on medical leave after major spinal surgery.
His leave began about two weeks ago and will last until further notice, says the company.
When asked about the subpoena and search warrant, the WWE and McMahon both put out statements.
The company said this is “a continuation of the investigation that commenced last summer. WWE has cooperated throughout and fully understands and respects the government’s need for a complete process.”
McMahon also stated that “I have always denied any intentional wrongdoing and continue to do so. I am confident that the government’s investigation will be resolved without any findings of wrongdoing.”
The WWE expects McMahon to reimburse them for the expense of this investigation, which has cost them a combined almost $13 million which he says he has paid nearly $18 million back so far.
Back in the spring, the WWE and UFC joined forces to form the Endeavor Group which is supposed to be made official by the end of the year. You have to wonder with all his troubles and health issues, will McMahon be ousted from the company soon.
