For fans of hip-hop, the past few weeks have been quite eventful between uber-popular artists Kendrick Lamar and Drake, who have gone toe-to-toe on several diss tracks against each other. And former WWE megastar turned NXT trainer Shawn Michaels believes that the two should settle their beef in the ring on WWE programming.
For those unaware of the very public animosity between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, it has gotten quite personal, with very serious accusations being thrown around from both parties.
It’s unlike anything we have seen in the hip-hop industry in quite some time. And Michaels, (real name Michael Shawn Hickenbottom) seems to see this as a possible selling point if he can convince the two to solve their disagreement under the WWE banner.
Michaels took to social media on Monday to offer an opportunity for the two rappers to settle their beef on NXT, even saying that he would “offer his services to mediate”.
“A little Sweet Chin Music goes a long way,” tweeted Michaels. “@Kendrick Lamar, you and @Drake are formally invited to WWE NXT to settle this thing. I’m even offering my services to mediate.”
It may sound a bit ridiculous for Michaels to even propose this. But interestingly, Kendrick Lamar may be a bit of a fan of Shawn Michaels, even using Michaels’ patented finisher during his wrestling career, the “Sweet Chin Music” in one of his disses towards Drake.
“Sweet Chin Music and I won’t pass the aux,” said Lamar in his latest diss track Not Like Us.
Realistically, the chances of the two ever stepping foot into a WWE ring against one another seems a bit far-fetched. But you have to at least credit Michaels for the attempt.
If anything given how far the accusations have come between the two, it may be more likely to see the two in a potential boxing match against one another than in the WWE ring…
