One of the things that makes sports so compelling is watching athletes compete at the highest levels on an even playing field. When the integrity of sport is compromised, and the playing field is no longer even, it completely takes away from what makes competition so pure.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what has transpired with one collegiate athlete, who has now been banned from competition.
“BREAKING: NLWC’s Olympic Bronze Medalist Aaron Brooks has failed a USADA test for a recently banned substance and is allegedly facing a 1-2 year suspension. This would allow him to at least return for LA2028, where he plans to compete at 97kg. The shocking wrestling news continues,” reported Pat Mineo on Twitter on Friday.
Fans reacted to the brutal news on social media.
“I have met him and I find this hard to believe. What is the substance?” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Probably not the only one in that room doing it. NCAA testing is probably not nearly as stringent as international testing,” someone else added.
“I guess this is how Cael gets the most out of athletes. Either he helps them cheat or turns a blind eye,” another person added.
Hopefully, Brooks is able to get clean and compete the right way in the future.
