Cailtin Clark is arguably the biggest star in the history of the WNBA. Since being drafted with the number one overall pick by the Indiana Fever last season, Clark has helped propel the league to record numbers of attendance and television viewership.

Clark has enamored fans all over the country. Unfortunately, Clark’s outstanding play has cost one reporter her job. Rachel DeMita was covering the Big 3 three-on-three league games when she tweeted about Clark, who was facing off against the New York Liberty.

DeMita confirmed the brutal news that her support of Clark resulted in her losing her role with the Big 3 in a video shared to social media.

Fans reacted to the devastating news on social media.

“Tough situation but yea—you kind of deserved to be let go. You seem really mature about it, but promoting your competitor while on the clock is a bit much. To be fair, I don’t really see them as a competitor—but the Big3 does,” one fan said on Twitter in response to the video.

“What a lame reason to fire someone. I’m sorry that happened to you. Seems like a little chat behind the scenes with a please don’t do that again would’ve been sufficient,” another fan added.

“Unfortunately it looks like the BIG3 used a lame reason to let you go. Obviously they wanted an out and they used that excuse. In addition BIG3 knew you weren’t under contract and therefore they could let you go without paying your contract,” one fan added.

Hopefully, DeMita learns from her mistake.
