Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) celebrates a three-point basket Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, during the game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is propelling the WNBA to new heights. Since joining the league in 2024, Clark’s presence has brought the WNBA record numbers of attendance and television viewership.

When Clark was forced to miss over two weeks with injury, television ratings in the league declined by over 55%. It’s becoming harder and harder to argue that there is a bigger name in the WNBA, which is no light statement in a league with multiple-time MVP winner A’Ja Wilson.

One prominent sports analyst is going far enough to compare Clark with the names at the top of the sport in the NBA as well.

“She’s already more famous than every NBA player but KD, Steph, and LeBron,” said Nick Wright.

Fans reacted to the statement on social media.

“I honestly think she’s getting pretty close to the same amount of name recognition as LeBron. Would love to see an official poll or survey on the topic,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

“I would argue significantly against that. CC is the most popular athlete in the United States Right now,” another fan added.

“She’s popular all over West Africa too. We stay up at night just to watch fever games. This is crazy because we only stay up all night for men’s sports that we’ve supported since childhood,” added one fan from West Africa.

Hopefully, Clark does for the WNBA what Michael Jordan did for the NBA.
