It’s hard to argue there’s anyone more important to the exponential growth of the WNBA than Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. Clark’s larger-than-life presence has resulted in record numbers of attendance and television viewership for the league.
Unfortunately for the WNBA and the Fever, both parties will have to figure out a way to tread water without Clark’s draw for at least a couple of weeks, according to one prominent league insider.
“Breaking: Caitlin Clark has suffered a left quad strain and will be out a minimum of two weeks, the Indiana Fever announced. Updates will be available following re-evaluation, the team said,” reported ESPN’s Alexa Philippou on Memorial Day.
Fans reacted to the brutal break for Clark on social media.
“Quad strains are difficult just like hamstring strains but likely indicates that it’s between a Grade I-II strain. Typical healing time Grade I: 1-2 weeks Grade II: 3-6 weeks,” one doctor wrote on Twitter.
“Breaking: now the wnba will have way less viewers for two weeks unless they wanna watch bricklayer on the sky,” one fan wrote on Twitter, referencing the struggles Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has had so far this season.
“Guess I’m taking a 2 week break from Watching the WNBA,” another fan added.
Hopefully, Clark will be able to make a quick and speedy recovery.
